Tayler Bennett Memorial Tournament honours ball player

The tournament honouring the beloved teen took place from June 14th to 16th

Tayler Bennett Memorial Tournament organizers and participants endured a wide range of challenging weather and emotions on the June 14-16 weekend as the 1st annual event unfolded. Jerseys with Bennett's No.15 hung from dugouts, tents and fences across West Fraser Timber Park.

The annual tournament held in Quesnel was renamed to honour ball player Bennett lost her life in a car crash in November along with teen Lane Wiggins. The tournament had 16 teams total with age groups U13, U15 and U17. There were numerous rain delays throughout the tournament but it continued on throughout the weekend.

Teams were from Quesnel, Prince George, Smithers, Terrace and Kamloops.

At 1:30 p.m. on Saturday the teams gathered on one of the diamonds along with players from Bennett's team and her family to honour her.
