The best of the best will show Quesnel what they are capable of. At the same time, they are showing Quesnel what the community is capable of. The power of the arts will be displayed in song, drama and dance and their presentations will not only entertain but also inspire.

These performances will be unveiled at the Chuck Mobley Theatre (850 Anderson Drive at Correlieu Secondary School) on May 6 at 6:30 p.m. for the Celebration Of Stars gala event that concludes the Quesnel Performing Arts Festival (QPAF).

“All of the performers selected to represent Quesnel at the provincial competition later this month will be showcasing their performances,” said Vicky Predan, one of QPAF’s volunteer organizers. “We will be celebrating performers from all of our five disciplines: Piano, Vocal/Choral, Dance, Speech/Dramatic Arts and Band/Instrumental. We will conclude the evening with an awards ceremony. Competitors will be presented with a certificate, trophy and honours scholarship.”

The provincial level of the performing arts competitive festival happens in Penticton from May 28 to June 1.

“This year marks the Quesnel Festival of the Performing Arts 40th Anniversary,” said Predan. “We are extremely honoured to celebrate this milestone with our community. The support we have received from other non-profit organizations, local businesses, community members, instructors and performers has been outstanding. It’s only with this support that we can continue to provide performing arts opportunities to youth in our community. Our volunteers and our performers thank you from the bottom of our hearts.”

Tickets to Quesnel’s Celebration Of Stars are available online in advance. Go to the QPAF page on Facebook or their website to find the link.
