Last weekend did not go exactly as planned for the Quesnel Thunder midget hockey team as they faced the 100 Mile House Miners for the right to represent the Cariboo at the provincial championships. The Thunder hosted the Miners for the first two games of their best-of-three series last weekend, and came away with a loss and a win. The 5-4 win came thanks to a goal by Josh Mack in double overtime with assists going to Graeme Rubisch and Cole Thibault.

It wasn’t exactly how he had planned it, but James Gemmell is nonetheless ecstatic he secured a spot on the Canadian men’s sledge hockey team. “It’s probably one of the greatest feelings of my life, it’s hard to explain,” Gemmell said of the feeling of representing Canada and wearing the national uniform. “Obviously you want to do the best you can for your country, they are looking up at you.

Jonathan Schaefer once again came close to perfection, but in the world of elite archery, he learned four points make a huge difference. Schaefer, competed in the World Archery Festival in Las Vegas, Feb. 12 and shot rounds of 299, 299 and 298 out of 300.
